For the viewers of kumudam.com, Can you please explain what you have told in the affidavit given to Jain commission with regards to Mr. Rajiv's assassination? How this has been discussed in the present political scenario in Tamilnadu?
Velusamy :
Indian former Prime minister Mr. Rajiv was killed after the late hours i.e. after 10pm on 21May1991.
Then I was the translator for Subramanian swamy who dont know to speak Tamil that time. He had his program on 22-May-1991 in Tamilnadu. To ask about his plan on the meetings in next coming days I called him over the phone on 21May1991 night sharply 10.15PM to his Delhi house. Immediately when he heard my voice asked me "Whether you are going to tell Rajiv is dead?".
I was shocked. I remember the time was 10.20PM. I told him "I was calling for the program for the meetings?". He casually told that when Rajiv is dead what meetings you are going to do?
Then I kept the receiver. Immediately dialed to the local crime branch police and asked about Rajiv's death. They dont know about the assassination. Then I called the newspaper offices, they also dont know. Then called Janatha party office in Chennai and asked, they also told they don't know.
But Subramanian swamy who is in Delhi told this news to me 10.20 PM.
Initially I thought that Subramanian swamy might have got the news from his close sources.
Next day morning i.e 22nd May 1991, I was reading Rajiv's assassination news in the newspapers. This news was published in pages not only in India all over the world at the last they mentioned at the last line of the editorial that the central minister Subramanian swamy told "LTTE was behind the killing of Rajiv using human bomb"
But when reading inside the editorials it was mentioned that the place has been sealed and investigation not yet started. Even the initial investigation itself not started. Later I learnt the investigation started only the next day i.e. on 22-May-1991 morning. So Subramanian swamy already decided the killers as LTTE before any investigation stared and given the news to the news papers to divert the cast in the initial stage itself.
In the evening edition of newspapers there was a interview by Ms. Jayathi natarajan. She was the first to identify Rajiv's body.
She told in the interview that "they heard a big bomb blast and all ran in all sides of coas. After some time we come to the bomb blast site and saw a leg with a shoe and had doubt that the shoe seems to be of Rajiv's. I shouted and called Mr. Muppanar then tamilnadu congress leader, and we both saw the single leg with shoe. Muppanar told me that he also noticed the same type of shoe was worn by our leader Rajiv. Then we saw a body with one leg with the same type of shoe of which the face is & Stomach were distorted badly. Me and Muppanar identified Rajiv's body by his back side of the head, neck. After seeing our leader in that condition I cried afterwards.
Jayanthi Natarajan also told that after the bomb blast it took around half and hour to identify the body of Rajiv.
I was shocked by seeing this news. Bomb Blast happened by 10.10PM on 21-May-1991 and only after half an hour later Jayanthi Natarajan identifies Rajiv's body i.e. by 10.40PM. So how come Subramanian swamy in who was in Delhi that time can tell to me when I called him 10.20PM on 21-May-1991.
Then I was recollecting every thing in my mind about Subramanian swamy. On 19 and 20th May1991 Subramanian swamy was in Tamilnadu attending different meetings.
One week earlier to the assassination while he came to tamilnadu he called me to Chennai airport to him for discussing plan for meetings. I took a car and reached Chennai airport and met Subramaian swamy. I told him I departing now, then Subramanian swamy told that I didnt call you for some meetings and took me with him to Kanchipuram. We had a lunch in Kanchipuram and started Election campaign.
